- preheat oven to 325°F.
- grease and flour a tube pan.
- cream shortening and butter together.
- gradually add sugar; continue creaming until light and fluffy.
- add eggs 1 at a time beating well after each addition.
- combine (sift together) flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa.
- add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour.
- stir in vanilla.
- pour into greased & floured tube pan.
- bake at 325°F for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
- cool on wire rack for 10 to 15 minutes.
- invert onto wire rack to remove.
